I was contacted by phone by a company called Educational Direct, which uses (according to their web site) Affinity Direct) to consolidate student loans. First of all, has anybody ever had experience whatsoever with Educational Direct, and if what has been your positive or negative experience. I ask, as I originally filled out a debt consolidation questionnaire and after paying my $23,000+ student loan (currently with Direct Loans) for 36 months at 5.25% with auto checking debit, my loan will then drop to 4.25%!?!! This sounds great as $8,500 of my loans are at 6.8% and my weighted average is 5.5%. Thank you.

I have a question for you. If I graduated and about to work in a different country, do I still qualify for the Income contingent plan?

Great question! As a Customer Service Representative at the Student Loan Network I hear countless times a day from borrowers that their monthly payments are just not affordable. Your best bet is to contact your current lender and check if they have a different repayment plans for you. Many times companies offer interest only payments. It may cost you more over the life of the loan however it does help reduce your monthly payments for some time. Hope this helps!
